Scholarship Winners for the Year 2008

MAAS SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS NAMED

Herman will attend the University of Minnesota and Peterson will attend Concordia College in the fall.

The LeRoy Maas Wrestling Scholarships for 2008 were recently presented at the annual Albert Lea High School Awards Assembly May 14th. The LeRoy Maas scholarship Fund has been in existance for twelve years. A total of 34 scholarships have been given to deserving ALHS students with a value of $45,000. The scholarship was established by former Albert Lea High School students. The primary goal was to assist the post secondary educational development of deserving Albert Lea students, while honoring and perpetuating the values, teachings and life long service of their teacher and coach, LeRoy Maas.

The founders of the fund are Pete Veldman, President, Dr. Lymon Steil, Vice President, and Frank Gallagher, director. Other officers are Neal Skaar, secretary, Kathy Schenault, director, and LeRoy Maas, an ex-officio director. Coach Maas has a voice, but not a vote.
