- A Letter
from Roy
- Dear friends of the
LeRoy Maas Scholarship Fund,
-
- Lillian and I have
just returned to Albert Lea and are excited to present 3 additional
Maas Scholarships to deserving ALHS students. Thanks to you and others,
we have now provided financial assistance to 12 fine ALHS
student/atheletes.
-
- As I near my 85th
year, I thank God for the special blessings in my life - family,
friends, former students, and the continued opportunity to help more
young individuals. With the assistance and involvement of many, I feel
privileged to provide and invite investment in future generations.
-
- In the next few
days, our board of Trustees will be sending invitations to help us move
closer to our minimum goal. In advance, thanks for your ongoing
assistance as we continue to help the extended education of deserving
ALHS students.
-
- Appreciatively yours,

-
- A Letter
from Manny Steil (April 29th, 2002)
-
- Dear friends of the
Leroy Maas Scholarship Fund,
-
- On May 8th, we will
award $3,200 in LeRoy Maas Scholarships to 3 deserving ALHS students -
Adam Lares, Justin Krueger, and Tara Ann Stadheim. Mr. Maas is excited
as we have provided $13.200 in Scholarship support to 12 students over
the last 6 years.
-
- As you know, our
primary goal is to perpetuate the values, teachings, and life-long
service of LeRoy Maas while assisting the educational development of
ALHS student athlete/scholars.
-
- Our financial goal
is to create a minimun base fund of $100.000.00 and grow the fund
annually. Our present fund balance is $69,930.00. At this writing, we
have received 302 contributions from 107 individuals, classes, and
organizations. In addition, the Maas Scholarship has been named as
beneficiary of a $10,000.00 donated Life Insurance policy.
-
- As all Maas
Scholarship awards are made from accrued interest, every addition to
the principal will increase our future annual awards. to that end, our
Board of Trustees invites your continued generous contributions.
We appreciate and extend thanks for your important continued support.
-
- Sincerely,

- Manny Steil
- Board of Trustees
-
- P.S. In special
recognition, a bronze sculpture of Mr. Maas was recently commissioned
and donated by the Frank Gallagher family. It is the first bust of an
Albert Lea teacher to be displayed at the new Albert Lea High School.
We extend our thanks to the Gallagher family,
-
